SORRY SEPARATE

The North Londoners Sorry follow-up their 2020 album 925 with a couple of wonderfully sadistic new singles, 'Cigarette Packet', which we dissected yesterday, and 'Separate'. Of the two, the latter is probably less poppy and more doom-drenched, which is why we love it! Glitch electronics, fuzzed-out synths and harsh industrial (almost trap) drum sounds create a moody and mesmerising soundscape. Asha sings the emo-washed line 'I know I'm separate now' with a sense of depressive contentment. 'Separate' has dropped alongside a night-time city video, directed and edited by FLASHA, and produced by Flo Webb and Asha Lorenz. Watch and listen here. -Ellie Rose-Davies
